Talking about how Ranveer Singh stepped into Kapil Dev’s shoes for ’83, director Kabir Khan told Bombay Times, “The moment I started working on ’83, I realised, it was only Ranveer Singh who could play the character of Kapil Dev.

He further added, "He possesses the physicality that is required and also has the discipline that an actor needs to be able to portray a legend like him. As far as his look is concerned, it was difficult because we didn't want to get into prosthetics. In sports, you have to play all day long under the sun.

Prosthetics would have made it very difficult. So, we knew that we had to get a few key elements right to put the real picture across for the audience. It was a long process; about two months of different drafts. After eight days involving long sessions, we were able to transform Ranveer into Kapil.”

Ranveer will be next seen in the Kapil Dev biopic '83, a film that has been in the news for the longest time now and the fans have been waiting for April 2020 to be able to see it in theatres. Deepika Padukone will be essaying the role of Ranveer's wife as Romi Bhatia.

The actor will also be seen in Takht starring Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, and Bhumi Pednekar, Karan Johar's multi-starrer film and that's yet another movie that has high hopes riding on it.
